715 Drivers Education
S 1/2 credit
Prerequisite: Must be 15 years and seven months old by the completion of the course.
This class covers the classroom portion of the driver's education and does not provide any behind the wheel training. This course is aimed at the development of knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for performing as a competent vehicle operator.
740 Release Time This class is for those who are leaving campus to attend a program of religious instruction.
785 Critical Thinking
S - 1/2 credit
This course is designed around a classics study program. The greatest men and women of history have become so by the use of classics and mentors. The goals for this class are to improve reading and writing skills; help scholars "love learning" and see that all subjects relate; learn to appreciate classics in literature; and learn to think, problem solve and produce. Critical Thinking is based on a Jefferson Education of mentoring, writing, projects and discussion. In this class, the scholar will read in class (no homework) Cry the Beloved country, Antigone, And Then There Were None and The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. This will be a required course for those graduating in the year 2009 and beyond and an elective class for all others; however, 1/2 credit is offered per semester.
776 Beginning Ceramics
1/2 credit
This introduction to clay includes hand-building, throwing, glazing and a variety of firings. Learn the basic methods of working in clay while you create your own functional and sculptural work, finishing it with textures and glaze. In addition to the class fee students will need to pay for supplies used in the class. The estimated cost of supplies is $60 dollars. This class is taught at the Mesa Arts Center. Class Fees $150(approx).
778 Digital Imaging
1/2 credit
Become proficient with your own manual 35mm camera and learn how to take good photographs, learn both outdoor and in-studio shots. Become familiar with the black and white darkroom and materials by developing your own prints. In addition to the class fee students will need to pay for supplies used in the class. The estimated cost of supplies is up to $200 dollars. This class is taught at the Mesa Arts Center. Class Fees apply.
