Registration for 2010-2011
What’s new for 2010-2011? Answer
1. Students entering the 9th grade (Cohort 2014) will be required to have 4 years of science. All Students in the 9th grade will take a new science class entitled Conceptual Science; this class will replace the Critical Thinking class.
2. The English department is introducing a new class entitled “Science Fiction/ Fantasy”; this is a one semester class and may be taken by students in grades 10 through 12 as a substitute for their regular English class.
3. A new Economics class will be offered expanding the curriculum that has been part of the history classes. This one semester class will be required for graduation for those students entering the 11th grade. (Cohort 2012)
4. In addition to tackle football we will have flag football for the junior high students. All those interested in playing should see Mr. Bowers.
5. All students must be enrolled in a math class through the 11th grade. 3. Scholars must earn a “C” or better in order to receive credit for a class. A letter grade of “D” will no longer earn ½ the credit value. All non-block credit classes will be valued at ½ credit per semester. The Class of 2011 will need 26 credits to graduate. Most students will earn 7 to 8 credits per year.
6. High school science and history classes will meet all year with the exception of American Government which will remain a block class.
7. Scheduling for next years classes will be done online. Go to “grades.hamesa.com” and input your id and password. Once you are in PowerSchool, select the “register for classes” tab. Please follow the directions on the enrollment screen. You will be requesting for the whole year at this time; it is therefore important that students make course selections carefully as classes are formed based on student requests. Some courses listed in the catalog may not be available if the registration is not sufficient to hold the class. Each student must register for the equivalent of 8 classes each semester. (Please note the American Government/Constitution class meets every day and therefore counts as two classes. This is a 1st semester class only.) Four of the 8 classes will meet Monday-Wednesday and the other four meet on Tuesday-Thursday. Schedules will be available a week before school begins during final registration. Families will be notified of specific times by mail. Payment for classes that require a fee must be made at that time.
